Sunset

Saturday, 5 March 2011, 4:05pm

Sunset. A few weeks ago I was running around on the hills behind the Utah Capitol trying to get pictures of the sunset. Although it was freezing and there was a cold breeze, I was able to capture a few photographs that I wanted to share. They aren’t super spectacular but still nice sunset photographs. Enjoy.

Portrait: Farook

Sunday, 27 February 2011, 9:46am

Portrait: Farook. I was playing around with some of my camera flash settings and decided to try them out on myself. I managed to capture a fairly interesting portrait including my messy but functional home office in the background. I was also playing with my AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm 1:2.8G ED lens and having some fun with shooting with a wide angle. Enjoy.

Snow Covered Tacoma

Saturday, 26 February 2011, 5:39pm

Snow Covered Tacoma. We have had a number of spring snow storms that drop a lot of snow but doesn’t really stick to the ground. I woke up early to shovel the snow from the walks and driveway but there was not much to clear. I decided to be adventurous and have my camera with me as I assessed the snowfall. Lots of snow on the truck and grass with little on the concrete. My photography class has been successful in getting me to bring my camera and think about taking pictures more frequently. Enjoy.

Portrait: Mark

Portrait: Mark. I had the opportunity to take some portrait photographs of my friend Mark. We went to his beautiful home in downtown Salt Lake and it was a nice sunny day which provided fantastic light for some nice photographs. We took a number of photographs and I had to submit one for critique and review in my photography class. Enjoy.

Winter at Red Butte Garden

Saturday, 22 January 2011, 6:57pm

Winter at Red Butte Garden. I signed up for photography class this semester to help me improve my photography skills and to help force me to get out and take more pictures. There are many tool and techniques that I have yet to learn and master which is part of the reason why I am taking this class. These are a few pictures that I took earlier today while I was visiting Red Butte Gardens. The garden is open year round and is probably one of my favorite places to photograph. Please feel free to leave a comment or critique. Enjoy.

Winter Mountains

Sunday, 2 January 2011, 7:38pm

Winter Mountains. Happy New Year. Although it has been below freezing for over a week now, the clouds have cleared away and the beautiful Utah mountains come out in all their glory. The mountains are just amazing. The other evening during sunset I was able to be on the west side of the valley to get a fantastic vantage point to see the the evening colors and mountains. Enjoy.

Driving Through Tahoe

Wednesday, 22 December 2010, 3:08pm

Driving Through Tahoe. Luckily I was able to take some time off during the holidays to drive to California to visit my family and friends. The weather is always unpredictable and the drive through the Sierras can cause delays. Luckily the weather was fantastic and the roads were dry and clear. The mountains and clouds made for a scenic afternoon and I probably should have stopped and taken some pictures with my Nikon D300 DSLR but I was excited to get home. Enjoy the pictures.

Colorful Tree. Every morning on my way to class I would pass a number of trees and there was one in particular that got very colorful as fall progressed. I took a number of pictures over two months and I thought I would share a few of them. Enjoy.

Portland & Seattle Trip

Sunday, 24 October 2010, 6:30pm

Portland & Seattle Trip. The University of Utah has a wonderful thing called Fall Break. Think of Spring Break but for the Fall Semester. This year Charlie and I decided to vacation in Oregon and Washington. We spent the first few days in Portland enjoying the sites and the great food and then made our way west to the coast. Spent a day or two heading north and eventually arrived in Seattle where we crashed for a few nights and saw more sites and enjoyed amazing food. Here are a few pictures from our trip:
