Remodel: Putting It Together

Sunday, 25 October 2009, 7:45pm

It has been a while since our remodel project was deemed complete for the year. It would probably better be called a “phase” of the master remodel plan. We purchased a wonderful dining set that has some really comfortable swivel and non-swivel chairs. They are made out of metal and held up really well under the weather that was experienced so far.

We also finally put together the Outdoor Heating Lamps and got them functioning to generate some nice warmth for the fall weather and upcoming winter. We have two of them and unfortunately one of them needs some minor repairs before it will work. They are quite stylish and really affordable. We purchased them at Costco during the summer time.

The office finally received its own deck. This was one of the last elements to be installed and the workmanship is very good. There is enough space to place a chair and enjoy the fall weather or let the dog out in the chilly mornings without really having to leave the house. The lamps provide excellent light and this deck really is the start of the second phase of the project that we may get to next summer.

Enjoy the photographs! I took them with my Nikon D300 and a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED wide angle lens with a SB-800 AF Speedlight flash. I was using a corrupted 32GB flash card that has since been replaced, but many of the pictures I took were damaged.

San Francisco Panorama

Saturday, 20 June 2009, 7:42pm

A few weeks (or months) ago I went and visited my family in California. While I was there, we were able to go into San Francisco and take some pictures. This picture was taken on Treasure Island and the sun was setting and it was gorgeous. I actually took sixteen photographs and stitched them together to make this photograph. I might look pretty small on my website or in your web browser, but feel free to download it and take a look at it. I didn’t really want to spend too much time photoshopping the photograph. I just decided to upload it.

Snow Shoeing 2009

Thursday, 27 March 2009, 10:08 pm

A few weeks ago Charlie and I went shoe shoeing up American Fork canyon in Utah County with my co-worker Brad and his wife Kay. Brad brought his two friendly dogs and we brought Jake so the dogs could also have some fun running around in the mountains. The snow was fresh and beautiful. It was actually a pretty warm day for a day out in the snow. I took quite a few pictures.

Hope you enjoyed the photographs.

Portrait: Shaheen & Kalea

Sunday, 30 November 2008, 6:57pm

Over Thanksgiving I was able to capture some pictures of my sister and her 4 month old daughter Kalea. She is a wonderful little girl. I captured a few photographs and thought I would share some of them. I did have a monochromic version and also a sepia version and felt that the color versions looked the best. The monochromic ones have a sense of timelessness about them; however, the color ones won out.

Kamas & Mirror Lake

Sunday, 23 November 2008, 6:53 pm

A few weekends ago or maybe months ago, I was able to visit the Kamas area and travel into the Uinta Mountains. It was a fun day trip and I took a few pictures that I finally got around to putting on the website. I hope that you enjoy the pictures.

Portrait: Keilani

Sunday, 16 November 2008, 8:36 pm

The second photograph that I submitted for my portrait assignment was one of my niece Keilani. She has a wonderful personality and loves the camera. Every time that I pull out the camera she gets a little shy but then really loves the attention and shows her great smile.

I like this photograph because the sun is behind Keilani and there is a great reflection coming off the house and probably some other objects behind me. You can see the different catch lights in her eyes. Her smile and the theme of the color pink is very obvious. The pink goggles, the pink shirt, the pink lips and the slightly pink skin really bring that theme through.

Portrait: Jake

A few weeks ago my photography class had an assignment to do different portrait shots. We typically have to submit two photographs and one of the photographs I submitted was of my dog Jake. He’s a wonderful and obedient Yellow Lab. While this isn’t one of the best photographs that I have taken of Jake, it is one that I submitted for my assignment.

Macro Photography

Sunday, 26 October 2008, 8:30 am

Last week I had another assignment due for my photography class. The assignment was to capture different images very close up or even with a macro lens. Unfortunately I don’t own a macro lens yet but I did rent one for a few days to give it a try and to have some fun taking pictures.

I ran into other obstacles with this assignment. The weather has been clear but very cold and many of the flowers that I love to photograph are almost dead because it has been freezing every night.

Hope that you enjoy the photographs.

Yellowstone Lake

Friday, 17 October 2008, 5:23 pm

On our last day in the park we drove by Yellowstone lake on our way to the Southern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The lake was beautiful and is very large. The park guide stated that the lake is the largest mountain lake in North America. The photographs were cropped to really dramatize the shoreline and the mountains behind the trees.
